About me...
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest; however I have lived across this great nation from top to bottom, east to west. I currently reside in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
What's with all the naked women?
I am fascinated with the psychology behind art, and the human desire to explore the self through art and form. My work is representational with the figure as the main subject. Expression, attitude, form, and color are the inspiration for my work. I hope the viewer sees this as well. I believe nudes are the basic and most essential first step to understanding and portraying the human figure. Psychologically, nudes represent the window into the soul. Raw, open and vulnerable, the human figure portrays innocence and beauty. Nudes have been the subject of artists throughout history and I believe that it is a tireless art form that will always be interesting. I paint strong African American females because we are grossly underrepresented in western art; yet, equally beautiful. I create art as playful expression; recalling a time when we, as children, loved making our mark. With each mark we tell our story.
